Annecy is the leading city in France where life is good. It is the dynamic core of Haute-Savoie. The image of the agglomeration is driven by its external attractiveness and its proximity to Geneva and Lyon. It is a tourist destination for all seasons.
Greater Annecy benefits from a strong industrial base, with more than 1,500 companies (SMEs), representing 30% of the workforce and 40% of the territory's added value. In addition, it has a dynamic tourism sector, with 2,136 companies and 32,000 tourist beds. Finally, the construction industry, services and trade remain prosperous, with 24,000 companies and support from the Geneva basin.
The city's economy has developed mainly around the lake and the old town. The city centre is animated by three main commercial axes, Rue Sainte-Claire, Rue Carnot and Rue Royal.
Although the economic and commercial activities are concentrated in these axes, other very attractive sites are developing on the fringes of the city centre, namely the Galeries Lafayette, but also the Courier shopping centre.
